The Long Beach Community Foundation initiates positive change for Long Beach through charitable giving, stewardship and strategic grant-making.

2018 Knight Foundation Grant Opportunity
The Knight Foundation Fund, a fund with the Long Beach Community Foundation, supports the success of our community through investments that attract, retain and harness talent; that expand opportunity by increasing entrepreneurship and economic mobility; and that support civic infrastructure to accelerate the growth of ideas and bring people from diverse social and economic backgrounds together. Such projects and programs will enable our communities to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Long Beach Navy Memorial Heritage Association
A key purpose of the Long Beach Navy Memorial Heritage Association is to “foster and support the identification, evaluation, preservation, rehabilitation, restoration and interpretation of historical resources, sites and archival sources within the municipal boundaries of the City of Long Beach.” Historical resources may include buildings, public landscapes or contributing structures in historic neighborhoods.

Grantmaking Approach


A nonprofit organization with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or
A for-profit entity, individual or public agency, if the project provides a public benefit consistent with the purpose of the Association, as described above; and
Operated and organized so that it does not discriminate in the hiring of staff or the provision of services on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin or disability.
